A baile bringing together traditional New Mexican folk dance and queer country dance. With live music from Lone Piñon and DJ sets from The Outlaws, come ready for a full night of dancing, including New Mexican folk dances, line dance, cumbia, two-step, and waltz. Lessons and open dance!
The Outlaws are a queer country dance community based in Albuquerque. They aim to continue a long legacy of queer country western dance by hosting social dances that include opportunities to learn two-step, line dance, and waltz. They love to dance and bring people together and will show you a damn good time.
Lone Piñon is a New Mexican string band, or “orquesta típica”, whose music celebrates the integrity and diversity of their region's cultural roots. With fiddles, upright bass, guitars, accordions, vihuela, and bilingual vocals, they play a wide spectrum of the traditional music that is at home in New Mexico.
